AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken, in conjunction with head men's basketball coach Mark Vanderslice, is pleased to announce the signing of Raheem Freeman.
"Raheem can flat out score," Vanderslice said. "He's very skilled and you feel like something good is going to happen every time the ball is in his hands. He shoots it well from the three-point line and can get to the rim with the best of them.
Freeman is a transfer from USC-Salkehatchie. There, he garnered honorable mention All-America accolades and was a first-team all-region selection.
Freeman accounted for 17.7 points a night and poured in at least 25 points on eight occasions, including a 39-point performance.
"Raheem defends with effort and he's the type of player that puts the team first," Vanderslice stated. "He will do whatever it takes to win."
Prior to USC-Salkehatchie, Freeman attended Vanguard H.S. While there, he was a first-team all-district honoree as a senior. Freeman played in a pair of all-state all-star games and a county all-star contest. In the county all-star game, he tallied a record 40 points.
