RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team posted an 89-53 victory at Shaw Wednesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 3-2 on the year while the Bears fall to 1-3.
For the game, head coach
Mark Miller's team connected on 36-of-73 shots from the floor (49.3 percent), including a 15-of-30 effort from downtown (50 percent). The 15 made three-point field goals marked the second most in the program's Division II history.
USC Aiken held a 29-4 advantage in points off turnovers. The squad dished out 18 assists on the 36 field goals. The Pacers maintained a 38-20 advantage in bench points and a 21-4 edge in second-chance opportunities.
Jasmine Carter led the way with a game-high 21 points to go along with her five boards.
Emry Tsitouris notched 14 points on six-of-seven shooting while
Kwajelin Farrar narrowly missed out on a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Aubrey Lukacsko and
Alexis Ware each buried three three-point shots en route to nine-point performances.
Rachelle Aupont added six points while
Carly Gilreath tallied five. Gilreath distributed a game-best six assists in the victory.
Miller's squad jumped out to a 26-15 advantage after the first quarter and extended the margin to 48-27 at the break. In the third quarter, USC Aiken held the Bears to a mere eight points while outscoring the home team by 11.
The Pacers did not trail in the contest – and the closest it got after the opening tip was at 6-5. However, Ware buried back-to-back three-point shots while USC Aiken went on an 11-0 run to break open the game.
