FLORENCE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team posted an 8-0 victory at Francis Marion Thursday evening.
The Pacers improve to 4-9 on the season and 2-5 against Peach Belt Conference teams. The Patriots drop to 0-11 overall and 0-6 against league foes.

Hilary George's squad faced a pair of shots inside the box in the first three minutes but was up for the challenge. The first attempt was blocked before
Karin Cadwalader came up with a solid save at the 2:52 mark.
In the 10
th minute of action,
Brye Epley broke through the defense and blasted a shot from 15 yards out that found the back of the net for what turned out to be the game-winning goal.
Sarah Drury was credited with an assist.
Eleven minutes into the contest,
Monica Armendariz booted the ball from the top of the box for a 2-0 margin. In the 16
th minute of play,
Catherine McHale got into the act, registering a goal from 16 yards outs for a 3-0 lead off a pass from Armendariz. The squad score remained the same heading into the second half.
During the final 45 minutes of play, George's team racked up five more goals.
At the 50:40 mark,
Monica Armendariz found
Sarah Moore, who promptly tallied a score from 11 yards out for a 4-0 edge. Armendariz found the back of the net in the 53
rd minute with a shot from 20 yards out. Drury earned the assist on the play.
Moore connected for her second goal with 59:14 on the clock.
Catherine McHale crossed the ball and Moore headed it home for the 6-0 advantage. Moore recorded the hat trick with a shot from inside the box off a pass from
Abby Frick at the 67:35 mark for the 7-0 margin. Newcomer
Mariana Yamashita concluded the scoring in the 84
th minute with a chip shot from 10 yards out off a pass from
Rachel Romeo.
For the match, George's team out-shot the home team 21-16. The Pacers had 12 shots on goal compared to nine for the Patriots. Cadwalader, who played all 90 minutes, totaled nine saves to four by FMU.
USC Aiken held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
The 8-0 win marked the biggest victory for the program since an 8-1 victory over Coker on Oct. 25, 2010. It was the largest shutout since a 12-0 win over Georgia Southwestern on Sept. 22, 2004.
