Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 3-1 decision at Georgia College in the conference opener for both squads.
The Pacers stand at 3-3 on the season with the loss.
USC Aiken fell behind early as the Bobcats fired home a 20-yard shot in the 10th minute for a 1-0 lead.
The Pacers went into halftime trailing 2-0 after the home squad added a second score in the 24th minute of action.
USC Aiken continued pushing forward, but Georgia College was able to add its third goal of the match at the 80:31 mark.
However, head coach Sue Vodicka's team fought back quickly.
Off the restart, Hannah Allison got her foot on the ball and rocketed home a beautiful shot that found the back of the net, pulling the Pacers within two, 3-1, with just over nine minutes to play.
Despite the offensive possession by USC Aiken, the team was unable to add another goal in the contest.
For the match, the Pacers totaled nine shots, six of which came in the final 45 minutes. USC Aiken held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks but was also whistled for 13 fouls compared to seven by the home squad.
Between the pipes, Alli Edens played all 90 minutes and stopped three of the six shots on goal by the Bobcats.
For the Pacers, Allison accounted for two shots while Megan Smits led everyone with three. Caroline Gillespie, Kim Beyer, Haley Pipkin and Aubrey Danielson all posted a shot.
The Pacers look to even their Peach Belt Conference record when they return home on Wednesday to take on Young Harris. The time has been moved up and will now be a 3 p.m. start.
