FLORENCE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team dropped both of its Peach Belt Conference games at Francis Marion on Saturday afternoon at FMU Softball Field.

USC Aiken (6-2, 0-2 PBC) lost the first game, 5-2. Francis Marion (11-5, 2-0 PBC) garnered a 4-2 victory in the second game.

In the first game, Francis Marion was able to plate the first run of the contest in the bottom of the second inning when Jazz Holliday hit a home run to right field.

The Pacers were able to even the contest in the top of the fourth when Hillary Stewart (Blythewood, S.C./Blythewood HS) singled in Kaitlyn White (Columbia, S.C./College of Charleston).

USC Aiken would take the lead in the game at 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning, but Francis Marion's Ashley Jaramillo would then hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to lead the Patriots to a 5-2 victory.

Brittney Williamson (Lexington, S.C./White Knoll HS) and Brandy Bossle (North East, Md./Rising Sun HS) led the Pacers in game one with each collecting two hits.

In the second game, USC Aiken pushed ahead to an early 2-0 lead. The Pacers scored the first run of the game in the top of the first when Kayla Denham (Palatka, Fla./Daytona State College) brought home White.

USC Aiken added its second run on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning when Denham singled in Whitney Clary (Newberry, S.C./Newberry HS).

Francis Marion then scored four unanswered runs to acquire its 4-2 win.

No Pacer finished with multiple hits in game two.

India Kornegay (Eufaula, Ala./Eufaula HS) suffered the loss in the circle in both games on Saturday to fall to 6-2 on the season. She fanned seven in the doubleheader on Saturday.

Destinea Schneider led the Patriots in the second game with a 3-for-4 performance.

USC Aiken will next welcome Tusculum to JH Satcher Field on Wednesday, Feb. 29. First pitch in game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
