Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HICKORY, N.C.--USC Aiken (2-2) dropped a 3-1 decision to Slippery Rock University (6-1) on Saturday morning before rebounding to sweep Pfeiffer (1-4) 3-0 in non-conference volleyball action in Hickory, N.C. Saturday marked the final day of the 2005 Lenoir-Rhyne/Moretz Sports Invitational. Game scores with Slippery Rock were 28-30, 27-30, 30-27, and 27-30. Games scores versus Pfeiffer were 30-23, 30-23, and 30-24. 

Mandy Gerolstein and Laura Williams, USC Aiken's two-headed middle hitter attack, combined for 32 kills, 11 blocks, and a .347 hitting percentage. The rest of the Lady Pacer lineup hit just .087. 

"This was a very disappointing performance. We held leads in every game but relaxed and let them back in each one," said USCA head coach Will Condon. "We definitely performed below our capability in this match." 

Newcomer Katie Baker added 11 kills and 14 digs, the third Lady Pacer in double figures in kills. Setters Rachel Dalitz and Cheryl Barcas combined for 49 assists and 24 digs while Hayden Johnson tallied 26 digs and two aces. 

Williams had another outstanding performance in the win over Pfeiffer recording 14 kills and four blocks, hitting .423 as USCA made quick work of the Falcons. 

Missy Deardorff added seven kills and a .385 hitting percentage. Baker and Johnson each had 13 digs while Dalitz registered four service aces to go with 18 assists. 

USC Aiken will play in the AASU/Chatham Orthopaedic Classic next weekend, September 9-10. The Lady Pacers will take on Catawba and Florida Southern on Friday followed by contests with Florida Tech and Eckerd on Saturday.
