Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla.--The USC Aiken (12-9) Lady Pacers walk away undefeated at the weekend's South Region Challenge with a win over Rollins College 3-0. Game scores were 30-23, 30-22, 30-27. The Lady Pacers had nine games over the two-day event and come home with three more matches to tack onto the wins column. Head Coach Will Condon couldn't be more proud of his team's efforts.
"This was a huge win for our team," Condon said. "To step onto Rollins home court and sweep them is just amazing."
Mandy Gerolstein,
Missy Deardorff, and
Laura Williams all had 10 kills to contribute to the USCA win over the Rollins Tars.
Katie Baker was just behind her teammates with nine kills and a .364 hitting percentage. Gerolstein, once again, led the offense with a .412 hitting percentage for the night.
Rachel Dalitz came away with 41 sets and 11 digs for the Lady Pacers.
Condon made it clear however, that another factor greatly contributed to Saturday night's win.
"It was a total team effort with this win tonight," Condon said. "But our bench really stepped up by sending those on the court encouragement with loud cheers and filling our team with excitement. Those girls kept us in it, even when Rollins went on some good runs."
Rollins was led by Lorena Orlandini who had nine kills with no errors and a hitting percentage of .409. Lacey Malarky pitched in on offense with her team's match-high 29 assists.
The weekend's wins put the Lady Pacers at 12-9 overall and send them into the second half of conference play positive, confident and experienced.
"Our team has grown tremendously since the beginning of the season," Condon said. "The progress this weekend is just amazing. If we can keep this momentum going into upcoming PBC matches, we can end with a very successful season."
The Pacers will return home to face the Claflin University Pantherettes on Wednesday, October 19, at 7 p.m.
