USC Aiken Wins Two

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WINTER PARK, Fla.--USC Aiken (11-9, 4-2 PBC) dominated in its first two matches during day one of the Rollins/South Region Challenge today. The two wins extend a road-wins streak for the Lady Pacers to four games. 

In the first match today the Lady Pacers defeated the St. Leo Lions (8-12) 3-0. Game scores were 30-27, 30-21, and 30-27. USC Aiken came away with a .241 team hitting percentage, dropping slightly from more recent wins. 

Mandy Gerolstein led USC Aiken with 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .522. Following close behind was Missy Deardorff who had 13 kills, .360 percentage and Veronica Seidle with 12 kills and a .310 percentage. Senior setter Rachel Dalitz continued to tack on season assists with 45 against St. Leo and 32 against Florida Tech.

Audrey Starkebaum led the Lions with seven kills and teammate Kristin Mondientz had five kills with a game high .417 hitting percentage. Jessica Lynn had 27 assists for St. Leo.

The second match proved easier for the Lady Pacers beating the Panthers 3-0 with game scores 30-13, 30-23, and 30-22. Florida Tech drops to 7-16. 

Gerolstein led the Lady Pacers with 13 kills while Williams, Seidle and Katie Baker added nine, six and eight kills, respectively. Williams had the team high .412 percentage for the match. USC Aiken's team hitting percentage was lower than average at an even .200. It was enough to beat Florida Tech, who was only able to break even at .000 for the match.

Florida Tech's Kelly Currin led her team with team-high 14 kills and hitting percentage of .400, second highest of the match.

USC Aiken holds the record edge with St. Leo making the series 4-2 and ends a two-game losing streak against the Lions. Lady Pacers end a four-game losing streak against Florida Tech making the series 2-5.

The Rollins/South Region Challenge continues tomorrow as the Lady Pacers look to come away 3-0 as they take on the Rollins College Tars at 5 p.m.
