Box Score AIKEN, SC--On a night when
Clint Keown and
Ashley Farr broke a pair of single season school records, the Brevard College Tornadoes (30-18) surprised USC Aiken (28-23) 6-5 to notch their first ever win over the Pacers. With four steals on the night,
Keownbroke the stolen base record while
Farr pounded out two hits to break his own hit record.
After leading off with a walk in the first inning,
Keown swiped second base on the first pitch. Following a
Farr strikeout,
Keown stole third to break
Adam Riggs' 1994 record of 42 in a season. He proceeded to steal two more bases and now has
JuJu Foreman's(Augusta State, 2000) Peach Belt Conference mark of 49 in his crosshairs.
Keown finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the third,
Farr singled to right field to drive in
Adam Strongman and give USCA the 2-1 lead. It also gave
Farr 95 hits on the season to break his own school record set last year (94). He went 2-for-3 on the evening with one run scored and one RBI.
Demetrick Drumming added a 3-for-5 night with one double and two RBI while
Tony Hanks doubled and recorded a sacrifice fly.
Trailing 4-3 in the sixth,
Mike Cunningham (1) hit a two-out, solo homer down the left field line to knot it up at 4-4. It was the first of his two-year Pacer career.
In the seventh, however, Brevard went back on top following an RBI single off the bat of first baseman
Ray Gill. He also homered in the game to lead the Tornadoes. BC plated an unearned run in the eighth that proved to be the game winner.
???????USCA had the bases loaded with no one out in the bottom of the ninth, but following a sacrifice fly by

Chris Sheehan struck out and
Cunningham flied out to left field.
???????Jerod Summer went 3.1 innings allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits and two walks, striking out two in the no decision.
Paul Ferrell (4-3) came on to toss 3.0 innings of relief giving up one earned run on two hits and two walks in the loss.
Harold Sofield,
Nick Wandless, and
Mike Pomaville combined to hold the Tornadoes to one unearned run on three hits while striking out seven.
???????Nathan Wade (1-0) got the win for Brevard going 7.0 innings, scattering nine hits and four earned runs, striking out three and walking three.
John Grimsley (1) picked up the save.
USC Aiken will host UNC Pembroke on Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27 to close out their 2003 PBC season.
