Going to college can be a trying time for anyone. For some it could be the first time away from home. For others, it could mean moving overseas in order to pursue a dream of competing at a higher level while also furthering the education process.
The second one could essentially describe senior Karin Cadwalader on the women’s soccer team. The fourth-year standout was recruited by the previous women’s soccer head coach Sue Vodicka as a field player. However, during her time in Aiken, S.C., Cadwalader has done a bit of everything.
The 5-8 goalkeeper from Hasselby, Sweden, has seen time in the field, has played multiple positions, was forced to earn her spot between the pipes and has seen all sorts of challenges throughout her time at USC Aiken.
Cadwalader, however, has thrived in each situation she has been in. During her three-plus seasons with the Pacers, Cadwalader has gone from playing just 61:25 during her first year to playing in 10 matches as a sophomore. Last year, Cadwalader started all 18 matches between the pipes and has been in goal for five matches thus far in 2017.
Watch the video below as Cadwalader sits down for an in-depth interview about her journey.
