It was a last-minute change of plans. A talk with a friend changed her future quickly.
University of South Carolina Aiken women’s tennis standout Alice Neves spoke to Teresa Franco Dias about an open position on the team prior to this semester.
“I actually remember the day,” Franco Dias said. “Alice texted me and said, ‘You told me you wanted to come to the U.S. right?’ And I said yes.”
Three weeks was all that Franco Dias had in order to get everything set up. Once she arrived on campus, Franco Dias didn’t need that long to make a tremendous impact on the team.
“I still have a lot to improve on,” Franco Dias stated.
Despite her comments, she has already put together a 3-1 record in singles action. Franco Dias has seen time at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots. In doubles play, Franco Dias has seen time at all three seeds – and has a perfect record at No. 2 and No. 3.
She has played with No. 1 singles player Olivera Veskovac and has been outstanding.
