India Kornegay enters her first season as the head softball coach at USCA.
“We are thrilled to welcome India Kornegay back home to USC Aiken,” said Wilkinson. “From the beginning of our search, we were looking for a leader who could connect the proud tradition of Pacer softball with a championship future. India checked every box. She understands what it means to wear the Pacer uniform, she loves this University, and she has the passion, vision and determination to elevate our program to the highest level.”
“I want to thank Todd Wilkinson for this incredible opportunity to return home to USCA,” Kornegay stated. “It’s truly surreal to come back to my alma mater as the head softball coach – a place that played such a significant role in shaping the person and coach I am today. I’m honored to lead this program and can’t wait to get started building something special with our student-athletes, alumni and entire community. Go Pacers!”
Kornegay, a former standout in the circle for the Pacers, returns to USCA after spending the last two years as the head coach at Mount Olive.
In 2026, she guided the Trojans to 31 wins and a top-10 ranking in the NCAA Southeast Region. UMO finished with the 10th-best KPI in the region, demonstrating significant competitive progress under her leadership. Kornegay secured a sweep over NCAA Tournament foe Lenoir-Rhyne and earned multiple wins over fellow Super Regional competitor Francis Marion. In league play, UMO went 16-12 and posted a 19-7 overall record at home.
“India's success as a head coach in a short period of time speaks volumes about her ability to lead a program,” Wilkinson stated. “She elevated Mount Olive into one of the top-performing teams in the Southeast Region, and her trajectory as a head coach is extremely impressive.”
Kornegay coached second-team All-American Emma King and all-region performer Samantha Taylor during her second season with the program.
During her first year at the helm, Kornegay guided the program to 24 victories, including a 13-11 league record.
As the Associate Head Coach for Rock Gold VA, she helped lead the squad to a 99-60-7 record at the National Travel level over two years. There, she contributed to player development, improving pitching mechanics by 15 percent.
A nationally respected pitching instructor, Kornegay brings more than a decade of experience teaching and developing pitchers. Wilkinson believes that expertise will be a critical asset as the Pacers compete in the highly competitive Peach Belt Conference and Southeast Region.
“Pitching remains one of the most important components of championship softball, and India's expertise in that area is a tremendous advantage for our program,” Wilkinson stated. “Her ability to teach, develop and maximize talent has been proven over many years. She is an outstanding teacher of the game, and that foundation will serve her exceptionally well as a head coach.
“India's extensive work with top travel programs has prepared her to recruit at an elite level,” Wilkinson said. “She has built strong relationships throughout the softball community and understands what it takes to identify, recruit and develop championship-caliber student-athletes. Those connections, combined with her work ethic and competitive drive, position our program for long-term success.”
Wilkinson emphasized that Kornegay's deep connection to USCA made her the ideal candidate to lead the next era of Pacer softball.
“At the end of the day, India is the right leader for Pacer softball at the right time,” Wilkinson said. “Her love for USCA, pride in being a Pacer, and internal drive to be great are unmistakable. She understands our culture, our expectations and our vision for the future. We are excited to welcome her home and look forward to watching her build a championship program that will make USCA proud.”
A four-time all-PBC honoree, Kornegay holds the school record in 10 categories, helped the program to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances and capped her career by earning Daktronics honorable mention All-America honors.
