Hilary George begins her fifth year as the head women’s soccer coach at USC Aiken.

George's 2018 campaign was highlighted by a come-from-behind 5-4 win over Georgia College on Senior Day as well as having eight all-academic team honorees.

In 2017, George guided the Pacers to their first PBC Tournament berth since the 2014 campaign. She led the team to league wins over Georgia Southwestern and Clayton State while coaching PBC all-tournament team selection Brye Epley.

In 2016, she led a young team to four wins, including a pair of shutouts to start the season. The 8-0 win at Francis Marion marked the largest win for the program since Oct. 25, 2010. 

During her first season with the Pacers, she guided the squad to a school-record tying four wins in Peach Belt Conference play. Her first career win came in a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Young Harris on Sept. 23. The squad tied Division I South Carolina State and won three-of four matches during one stretch, including a 2-0 shutout of Clayton State. 

“I am excited to have Coach Hilary George join the USC Aiken family,” Warrick said. “She is a hardworking coach who brings a strong tradition of success with her. I am looking forward to her continuing to move our women’s soccer program forward.”

“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity,” George stated. “I’m looking forward on building upon the successes that USC Aiken has had last year. I love the fact the team is tenacious and they never give up, which is something you can’t coach or teach.

“I’m excited about this because it’s my first official head coaching job, but I believe my past experiences at USC Beaufort and Armstrong State have prepared me to come back to the Peach Belt Conference as a head coach.”

George came to USC Aiken after spending the previous two-and-a-half seasons as the assistant head coach at USC Beaufort.

As part of the Sand Sharks’ staff, George was instrumental in designing and implementing training sessions. She also assisted in overall organization and management of the team. George helped coordinate practices, was a major factor in recruiting and assisted with fundraising activities. At USC Beaufort, she coached several all-conference selections.

Last year George was also a goalkeeper coach for the South Carolina Olympic Development Program. She evaluated all goalkeepers and designed goalkeeping sessions for youth from the ages of 12-18.

Prior to her arrival at USC Beaufort, George was an assistant coach at Armstrong State for six seasons. She helped guide the Pirates to a 91-25-13 mark during her tenure and was part of the 2011 Final Four team. George helped the squad to a pair of Peach Belt Conference regular-season championships, two PBC tournament championships and three PBC regular-season second-place efforts.

With the Pirates, George was part of four NSCAA nationally-ranked teams. She also coached several All-Americans, academic All-Americans, all-region and all-conference performers.

George graduated from Gardner-Webb in 2004 with a degree in communications. Two years later, she earned her M.A. in sport science and pedagogy from GWU.

During her time as an undergraduate, George was a first-team All-America selection by the NCCAA. She was a four-year starter for the Bulldogs.

George currently holds her NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, USSF National C coaching certification and holds the certified strength and conditioning specialist certification.
