Larry Milneris in his fifth season as head cross country coach at USCAiken.
In 2009,Milner guided the Pacers to their third consecutive NCAAregional.
During the2009 season, USC Aiken also officially opened Pacer Path, afour-mile-long, 15-feet-wide grass and earth multipurpose fitnesstrail, located on property adjacent to the USC Aiken ConvocationCenter.
In his thirdseason at the helm in 2008, Milner led the Pacers to a fifth placefinish at the Peach Belt Conference meet. Milner also led thePacers to their second straight NCAA regional, finishing aprogram-best 16th.
USC Aikenfinished second at the Blue Hose Invitational in 2008 withsophomore Nicole Maitland claiming top honors at the event, settinga new school record in the process. For her efforts she was namedthe program’s first ever PBC Runner of the Week. She finished13th at the PBC Championship Meet to become an all-conferenceperformer for the second straight year.
The 2008Pacer cross country team was named to the NCAA Division II NationalCross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team.
In hissecond season, Milner guided USC Aiken to a fourth-place finish inthe Peach Belt Conference Championship, the program's highestfinish ever. Milner also led the Lady Pacers to the NCAA Tournamentfor the first time ever. The Lady Pacers also won their first meetever, claiming the title at the USC BeaufortInvitational.
FreshmanNicole Maitland won the individual title at the USC BeaufortInvitational, and by finishing 10th at the PBC meet, became justthe second lady Pacer runner to be named PBCAll-Conference.
In his firstseason, the Lady Pacers came in second at The Citadel Invitationaland ninth in the Peach Belt Conference.
Milner, anative of Columbia, S.C., joined the USC Aiken athletics staff in2006 with six years of track and cross country coaching experience.Milner is a Level I Certified Coach and was involved with bothtrack and cross country at Aiken High from 1995-2003.
In 2004, healso coached a Team in Training for the LeukemiaSociety.
Milner hasbeen involved in distance running for over twenty years and hasparticipated in multiple events and marathons, including the CooperRiver Bridge Run and the 100th Boston Marathon in 1996 where heposted a time of 2:53.
Milner is a1978 graduate of the University of South Carolina and in 2003 hebecame a retired engineer from BellSouth. Milner has been living inAiken since 1979 with his wife Kathy. They have three children, sonBrantlee and twin daughters Michele and Marcie.
