Biography

SOFTBALL

2002:
Batted a team best .370 and started 27 games after joining the team at the end of basketball season...Her .422 on base percentage was first among Lady Pacers...Had 30 hits in 81 at bats along with 15 runs scored and 12 runs batted in...Cornwell’s .432 slugging percentage ranked fourth on the team...had six stolen bases in eight attempts.

2001: Led the team in batting average (.378) and was second in slugging percentage (.459)...Cornwell scored 24 runs, smacked seven doubles and one triple, and drove in eight runs in 111 at bats...She also drew 10 walks, was 23-of-27 in the stolen base department, and fielded .957 while starting every game she played at shortstop for the Pacers...Earned first-team all-conference honors.

2000: Played and started in 46 games for the Pacers…Named Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year...Selected to the all-conference team...Batted .380…Her 29 runs scored and 57 hits on the season both ranked second on the team…Led team in runs batted in with 22…Had a .560 slugging percentage and .411 on base percentage which both ranked first for the Pacers…Her 16 stolen bases and 172 assists both ranked second.

Turner Ashby High School: Led her team to three district titles, one regional crown, and a spot in the 1999 state championship game…Named student-athlete of the year at Turner Ashby…Played in Va. H.S. Coaches Association all-star game…Selected as the Virginia AA State Player of the Year…Named first-team all-state and was rated by US News and World Report as one of the top players in the state of Virginia.

BASKETBALL

2001-02 (JUNIOR SEASON):
Named PBC First-Team All-Conference for the second consecutive season...Received Second-Team South Atlantic All-Region honors... Selected to the Verizon Second-Team Academic All-District for second straight year... Second on the team in scoring at 12.8 ppg...Eclipsed 1,000-point barrier on Jan. 23 at North Florida...Now owns school records for career assists (442) and steals (218)...Led the PBC in assists (4.96) for the third consecutive season...Her 2.80 steals per contest finished second in the conference...Grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to go with 31 points in a 79-49 win over GC&SU on Feb. 9...Named PBC Player of the Week for Jan. 14-20...Posted 19 double figure scoring nights and three double doubles...Missed final three regular season games with mononucleosis.

2000-01 (SOPHOMORE SEASON): Started all 29 games for the 2000-01 PBC North Division Champions...Averaged 14.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game...Led team in points and assists... Named to the PBC All-Conference First-Team becoming first student-athlete in PBC history to be named First-Team All-Conference in two sports in the same academic year (also selected in softball)... Earned 2001 PBC All-Tournament honors ...Named PBC Player of the Week for December 8...Led the conference in assists...Ranked sixth in the PBC in scoring...Recorded 21 double-figure scoring performances, three double assist figure nights, and three double-doubles...Named to the Dodge Trucks All-American Farm Team...Verizon Second-Team Academic All-District.

1999-2000 (FRESHMAN SEASON): Named the PBC Freshman of the Year...Selected to the PBC All-Conference Second-Team...Voted to the Daktronics South Atlantic All-Region Second-Team...Named to the Division II Bulletin Freshman All-American Team...Finished seventh in the conference in scoring (14.9), third in steals (2.88), and first in assists (6.28)...Recorded 16 double-figure scoring nights including scoring 30+ points three times and 20+ points 10 times...Two double doubles...Broke two school records for most free throws attempted (21) and best free throw percentage (11-11, 1.000)...Also selected as the PBC Softball Freshman of the Year, the first player in conference history to be Freshman of the Year in two sports.

TURNER ASHBY HIGH SCHOOL: Holds school records in career points (1,119) and career assists (570)...Named a USA Today honorable mention All-American and the State of Virginia Class AA Player of the Year in 1999...Two-time All-State selection... District and Region Player of the Year (1997-99)...In senior season averaged 12.5 points, 6.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 steals.
