Ty Barkell is in his second year as a volunteer assistant coach with the USC Aiken baseball team.

During his first season, he worked with first-team All-American Conner Durden.

Barkell, a former all-region and all-conference standout first baseman for the Pacers, returns to the staff. During his time on the field, Barekll was an ABCA/Rawlings Southeast Region Gold Glove Team selection. As a senior, he posted a team-high .444 batting average while being named to the PBC all-tournament team.

He tallied a .389 career batting average, hitting over .400 twice. Barkell holds the school record for career putouts with 1,590.

After his career wrapped up, Barkell inked a professional contract with the Los Angeles Angels as a pitcher.
