Lettered in football and baseball at Beech High School… baseball coach was Roger Holmes… earned all-district and all-county honors in both sports… attended Volunteer State CC…. played baseball there for Kenny Thomas… named to all-conference squad… converted from catcher to pitcher last season… had 3-0 record on the mound… hit .250 in 13 games behind the plate… registered ERA of 3.27 in 6 appearances… struck out 15 in 22 innings… gave up 5 hits in 6 innings vs. Newberry.
