Greetings:
With the 2021-2022 season on the horizon, our coaches and student-athletes are excited to prepare for a full year of athletic competition. Last year was a difficult year for USC Aiken Athletics. Working against a pandemic was more challenging than any of us could’ve imagined. Going every day knowing whether there would be a season or not was hard on our athletes and our coaching staff. As a collective effort, we have persevered, and are enthusiastic about our volleyball and basketball teams this upcoming year.
Volleyball posted a 9-5 record and finished third in the conference during their spring 2021 season. Coach Glenn Cox will look to continue to lead his team to success in his 14th year of coaching. Volleyball will have many of last year’s returners and some newcomers to add to the mix. Volleyball will be hosting 17 home games this season along with three season tournaments.
Last season, the women’s basketball season was cut short due to concerns with COVID. They’re looking to come back strong after a year of uncertainty. Coach Mark Miller is returning for his sixth season as head coach and is bringing a blend of returners and newcomers to the team, as well as a first-year assistant coach Britney Guy. Women’s basketball will be hosting 13 games this season.
Men’s basketball finished fourth in the conference last season and earned a spot in the Peach Belt semifinal. They look to return to form this year under seventh year coach Mark Vanderslice. This season’s roster features an exciting mix of returnees and newcomers. T.J. Knight moves into the full-time assistant coach role for the squad. Men’s basketball will be hosting 13 home games this season.
As a part of the USC Aiken community, we appreciate your continued support of Pacer volleyball and basketball. We hope you would consider renewing your season pass for the 2021-22 season. This academic year will be hosting over 50 volleyball and basketball games. We currently do not have any attendance capacity restrictions related COVID, although we would encourage you to follow CDC protocols. We look forward to our fans returning to games and cheer on the teams as we provide the best experience for our community.
