Three Post Double-Doubles At Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The USCA volleyball team lost a hard-fought 3-2 match at Flagler Friday evening in the PBC opener.

The Pacers are now 8-3 on the season, including 0-1 in PBC play. The Saints stand at 11-2 for the year and 1-0 in league contests.

Head coach Glenn Cox's team was paced by Bailey Corrigan's team-best 15 kills. She added 14 digs for a double-double. Alli Bishop totaled 13 kills and 17 digs while Lexi Rogers posted 11 kills and 17 digs. Olivia Miller totaled 10 kills while adding five solo blocks and three block assists.

Madison Fox distributed 19 assists while Olivia Moffett dished out 16 assists.

Defensively, Kira Bostick notched a match-high 29 digs. She added seven assists and a pair of aces for good measure. Corrigan and Leilani Brown each had a solo block and a block assist. Bishop, Moffett and Rogers were all in on one block each.

USCA opened the match with a 4-0 lead thanks to points by Bishop and Corrigan. Tied at 12-12, the Saints committed two miscues and Corrigan added a kill for a 15-12 edge. Tied at 18-18, Miller put the Pacers in front with a kill off a pass from Moffett. The dyad combined for a block on the next play before Miller registered a solo stop for a three-point cushion, 21-18. Tied at 23-23, Corrigan sent Cox's group ahead before Brown's solo block ended the set with the visitors registering a 25-23 win.

After dropping the second stanza 25-16, USCA trailed 4-1 in the third set before Rogers found the court for a point. Two miscues by Flagler knotted the contest at 4-4. Another point by Rogers started a run. Miller and Rogers combined for a block. Two plays later, Miller embarked on a 3-0 spurt by herself for a 10-4 lead. Corrigan added a pair of kills for a 15-11 edge. Moments later, Miller added a kill, forcing a time-out at 20-15. Up 20-18, Corrigan added two kills and the Saints had a pair of errors. Bishop's kill off a pass from Moffett gave USCA a 25-18 win.

Tied at 4-4 in the fourth set, Corrigan, Miller and Bostick each had points for a 7-4 margin. The back-and-forth affair saw Flagler snag a 15-12 lead before a service error gave the Pacers a side-out. Miller blocked a shot before Bostick served up another ace, knotting the frame at 15-15. The Saints managed to take a 19-16 lead and USCA could get no close than two the rest of the way.  

Corrigan's kill and block gave the Pacers a 2-0 margin in the fifth set. Down 7-5, Bishop and Moffett notched kills. However, Flagler reeled off seven consecutive points before a point by Rogers stopped the run. Flagler posted a kill on the ensuing play for the 15-8 win.

For the match, USCA had 53 kills and hit .134. The squad accounted for 43 assists. Cox's team totaled 92 digs, seven solo blocks and eight block assists.
