Pacers Fall To Bobcats In PBC Tournament

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 7 USCA baseball team dropped an 11-7 game against No. 3 Georgia College Sunday.

The Pacers wrap up the season with a record of 23-29.

In a game that began Saturday evening but was postponed due to weather, USCA took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first against the Bobcats as Josh Sharp led off the game with a single, swiped second and moved to third on an error. He trotted home on a Capers Molinaroli double to right center field.

Georgia College scored two runs in the first and one in the third for the 3-1 advantage. With Jack Hobson at the plate in the fourth, the game was halted due to lightning.

The game resumed Sunday just prior to 12 p.m. and the Bobcats quickly pushed the margin to 5-1 with a pair of runs.

The Pacers cut the margin to three with a run in the fifth. Tyler Casciato led off the stanza with a double to right center field. Two batters later, Molinaroli singled him home.

Down 6-2 after the sixth inning, Holder's team responded with a five-run eighth frame. Brody Yeomans entered as a pinch hitter and drew a walk. Kaden Usry was hit by a pitch and Wyatt McPherson drew a walk to load the bases.

Casciato drove in Yeomans on a groundout. With two down, Josh Sharp ripped a pitch up the middle, driving in Usry and McPherson to pull within one. Molinaroli blasted a pitch over the left field wall for a 7-6 advantage.

The home team responded with five runs in the bottom of the eighth for an 11-7 lead. McPherson recorded a single in the ninth, but the squad was unable to push across any runs.

For the game, Sharp led the way with four hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Molinaroli recorded three hits, including a home run and a double. Molinaroli had four RBI and scored once. McPherson tallied two hits. JB Bell, Casciato, Hobson, Eliud Poventud and Usry had hits. Casciato doubled, drove in a run and scored while Usry also crossed home.

On the mound, Logan Wise got the start and worked three innings. He had five strikeouts. Cade Bouknight tossed two innings and had three strikeouts. Cole Evilsizor notched two strikeouts in 2.2 innings. Charles Herring, Jr., Jacob Bodkin and Jacob Butler all saw time on the mound.
