Pacers Fall To Saints

GAFFNEY, S.C.  – The USCA baseball team lost a 12-11 decision at Limestone Wednesday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 13-10 on the season.

Hunter Thompson got things going in the top of the first with a two-out double to center field. Donovan Glisson pushed him home on a double to left for a 1-0 edge.

The Saints plated three runs in the bottom of the first and another in the second for a 4-1 advantage.

Holder's team closed the gap in the fourth frame. Glisson led off the stanza with a single. After a base hit by Brody Yeomans, Tyler Casciato knocked in Glisson to make it 4-2. Yeomans scored on a groundout by Jack Hobson, slicing the deficit to just one, 4-3.

Limestone countered with five runs in the bottom of the inning, pushing the score to 9-3.

Trailing 10-3 in the seventh, JB Bell was hit by a pitch. Sharp walked and the two moved up 90 feet on a wild pitch. A walk to Dalton Graves loaded the bags for Thompson, who singled home Bell. With two down, a wild pitch allowed Sharp to score for the team's fifth run of the contest.

Casciato walked to lead off the eighth and was able to trot home on a Jack Hobson two-run blast. Doom Dennis singled and Brandon Osypczuk entered as a pinch hitter and promptly singled to left field. A base on balls to Sharp loaded the bags for Graves, who singled in Dennis.

With the bases full of Pacers, Glisson and Yeomans walked, tying the score at 10-10. After a pitching change, Casciato recorded a sacrifice fly as Graves scored. However, Limestone scored two in the eighth for the one-run margin.

For the game, Casciato, Glisson and Thompson had two hits apiece. Casciato, Glisson and Hobson posted two RBI each while Sharp scored twice. Glisson and Thompson posted doubles and Hobson had a round-tripper.

On the mound, Connor Sampers got the start and had a pair of strikeouts. Cole Evilsizor, Jared Huse and Nick Taddei also had one strikeout apiece. Charles Herring, Jr., and Jacob Butler saw time on the mound.

The Pacers return to action Friday when they host Flagler at 6 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
