AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA men's basketball team cruised to a 91-74 win over Flagler Wednesday evening.

The Pacers are now 14-6 overall, including 7-3 in PBC play.

Head coach Mark Vanderslice's team was led by Rhyjon Blackwell's game-high 21 points on six-of-eight shooting from the floor. He also added six boards. Jalen McCoy netted 20 points to go along with four blocks and six rebounds. Davion Cunningham notched 13 points and four steals while Caleb Byrd totaled 12 points and three thefts.

USCA started out strong, going up 7-0 when Blackwell canned an old-fashioned three-point play. Vanderslice's team pushed the margin to 11 when Blackwell nailed a shot from downtown at the 14:19 mark.

The team held an eight-point margin before Byrd took a pass from Rubel and buried a three-ball at the 11:24 mark. The Pacers continued to stay hot from the floor, extending the advantage to 15 when Cam Perkins took a pass from Byrd and made a lay-up on the break. A lay-up by McCoy with 8:58 remaining made the Saints call time-out.

USCA pushed the margin to 20 when Cunningham nailed a jumper at the 6:43 mark, making it 41-21. The lead hovered near 20 the rest of the period and a free throw by McCoy with 53 ticks on the clock sent the home team to intermission up 50-30.

Vanderslice's team controlled the second half, never letting the visitors get closer than nine. The lead hovered around 10 points for a three-minute stretch in the final period. However, the Pacers went on a 9-0 spurt in less than two minutes to solidify the win.

Up 75-64, Blackwell nailed two free throws. Byrd drilled a jumper at the 4:25 mark before Cunningham hit two free throws. With 3:18 to play, Blackwell drilled a shot from distance, extending the margin to 20, 84-64.

The Pacers never let the Saints get any closer until a final 27-foot three-point bucket with 60 seconds to go for the final tally.

For the game, USCA hit 33-of-68 (48.5 percent) from the floor, including eight-of-14 (57.1 percent) from downtown. The team buried 17-of-24 (70.8 percent) from the foul line. USCA scored 40 points in the paint and had 22 second-chance points on 17 offensive rebounds.
