USCA Splits With Limestone

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA softball team split a pair of games against Limestone on Saturday, falling 2-1 in the opener before recording a 4-0 victory in the nightcap.

The Pacers are now 9-7 on the season.

Head coach Jaclin Poole's team trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the second. Autumn Fisher drew a lead-off walk and moved to second on a base hit by Tara McGee. Alexis Stout was hit, loading the bases. However, USCA was unable to push across a run in the stanza.

Down 2-0 in the sixth inning, USCA sliced the deficit to one. Kate Newberry blasted a lead-off homer, making it 2-1.

Anna Turner ripped a double to left center field in the seventh, but back-to-back outs to end the game.

For the game, urner had a pair of hits. Newberry had the solo home run while McGee and Mollie Rollings each had base hits.

In the circle, Ally Fleming went the distance and had three strikeouts.

Neither team could push across a run in game two until the fifth inning. With one down, Rollings drew a walk and moved to second on a Madison Rogers base hit. Turner loaded the bags with a base hit to left field. Peri Rouillard rocketed an offering to right field, making it 2-0. Moments later, Newberry smacked a single up the middle, driving in two more for a four-run cushion.

With Lakyn Phillips in control of the game, the four runs were more than enough. She had 15 strikeouts in the complete-game win.

For the game, Rouillard and Turner had two hits apiece. Each had two RBI while Rouillard, Turner, Rogers and Rollings all crossed home in the win.
