AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA women's basketball team lost a 77-45 contest to North Georgia Wednesday evening.
The Pacers are now 2-8 on the year and 0-4 in PBC play.
Head coach
Brittany Batts' team was paced by
Morgan McDermott's 11-points and three rebounds.
Mackenna Nix added 10 points.
Zenia Palaska totaled six points and six rebounds while
Ioanna Stefanaki contributed five markers and four rebounds.
Destiny Harman added four points as did Makaylei Premo.
Monique Emelifeonwu accounted for three points, four blocks and four rebounds.
Trailing 13-4, McDermott took a pass from Stefanaki and promptly buried a three-ball. Premo hit a pair of charity tosses, closing the margin to 18-9 with 2:22 to play in the first quarter.
Down 22-9, Emelifeonwu hit a charity toss. McDermott followed it with a jumper at the 8:02 mark, making it 22-12. With the score at 33-16, Harman connected on a jumper. Premo made a lay-up before Harman split the defense and canned a lay-up, making it 33-22. UNG held a 41-22 edge entering the third period.
Facing a 53-25 deficit, Palaska buried a jumper.
Riley Miller found Nix for a lay-up before McDermott hit an inside bucket for a 6-0 spurt.
USCA continued to play hard, but the squad was unable to cut into the deficit the remainder of the way.
For the game, USCA hit 18-of-61 from the floor. The squad connected on seven-of-12 from the charity stripe and pulled down 30 rebounds. The squad tallied 26 points in the paint and dished out seven assists.
