WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The USCA women's basketball team dropped a 64-32 contest at Winston-Salem State Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 1-3 on the season.

Brittany Batts' team was paced by
Morgan McDermott,
Mackenna Nix and
Ioanna Stefanaki as all had seven points apiece.
Mahkayla Premo and
Riley Miller chipped in four points each.
Monique Emelifeonwu had two points while
Imogen Veal had one.
Nix snagged nine boards while Emelifeonwu grabbed five. Defensively, Emelifeonwu had three blocks while Miller tallied a pair of steals.
Down 10-0 near the midway point of the first quarter, Nix got the visitors on the board with a lay-up. Trailing 14-2, Nix converted an inside shot to pull the team within 10. Premo converted a pair of shots, making it 14-8 with 3:05 to go in the frame. McDermot's floater gave the squad 10 points with 1:22 to go.
A 13-0 run by the Rams put the score at 29-10 before Emelifeonwu's lay-up stopped the drought for USCA at the 4:02 mark of the second quarter. Down 31-12, McDermott connected from downtown at the 2:05 mark. However, WSSU held a 35-15 lead at the break.
The Pacers were unable to get any closer the rest of the way.
For the game, USCA hit 12 field goals, including two from downtown. The team connected on six free throws. Batts' squad pulled down 32 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive glass. The Pacers had seven points off turnovers and scored 18 points in the paint.
