Molinaroli Drives In Three At Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a 9-6 decision at Coker Tuesday evening in a region contest.

The Pacers are now 11-32 on the season.

Head coach Michael Holder's team got on the board in the team's first at bat. Brock Myers walked and swiped second base. After moving to third on a Josh Sharp single, both runners crossed home plate when Capers Molinaroli belted a triple to right field. A sacrifice fly by Kaden Usry pushed the margin to 3-0.

Coker made it a 3-2 contest heading into the second inning, but the Pacers made it a two-run game in the second. A single by Sharp pushed Myers to third base after an error on the fielder. Molinaroli singled home Myers for a 4-2 lead.

Tied at 4-4 in the third, Jack Hobson drew a lead-off walk and moved to second when Dalton Graves was hit by a pitch. A failed pick-off attempt sent both runners into scoring position and Doom Dennis obliged with a two-RBI single to center field. The Cobras struck with a run in the bottom of the stanza to make it 6-5.

Coker managed to tie the game in the fifth before plating three in the seventh for what turned out to be the final margin.

For the game, Sharp had three hits while Hobson and Molinaroli registered two hits apiece. Molinaroli led the way with three RBI while Dennis had two RBI. Myers crossed home twice in the contest.

On the mound, Blayne Newman got the start and worked two innings with a strikeout. Cade Bouknight registered five strikeouts in four innings of work. Cole Evilsizor saw time on the mound and Jared Huse closed out the final two frames. He had a pair of strikeouts in the loss.

The Pacers return to action Friday when they host North Georgia starting at 6 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
