Pacers Fall To Bobcats

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a 7-1 decision to Georgia College & State University Friday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 8-25 on the season, including 4-10 in PBC play.

GCSU pushed across a run in the top of the first, but from that point forward Hunter Steger kept the visitors off the board until the seventh inning.

With one down in the first, Joseph Mozingo ripped a single up the middle and moved to second on a groundout. However, USC Aiken was unable to score in the inning. Kaden Usry doubled with one away in the second and moved to third on an error.

Head coach Michael Holder's team put two runners on in the third but left them stranded. Josh Sharp walked and Mozingo poked an offering through the right side. The fourth inning saw USC Aiken get Brock Myers and Brandon Osypczuk on base but a groundout ended the frame.

GCSU held a 5-0 lead but Holder's team responded in the eighth. Dalton Graves walked and moved to second when Usry drew a base on balls. A double play ball resulted in Graves heading to third. Osypczuk's single to center field knocked in Graves. A fly ball ended the inning for the Pacers.

For the game, Capers Molinaroli, Mozingo, Ospyczuk and Usry registered two hits apiece. Molinaroli and Usry each had doubles. Osypczuk drove in Graves.

On the mound, Steger worked six innings. He gave up three runs, two of which were earned, on four hits while striking out three. Matt Garcia worked three frames and had five strikeouts. He gave up four runs, but only one was earned, on one hit.

The Pacers return to action Saturday for the final game of the series starting at 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
