Molinaroli Posts Three Hits In Series Finale

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a 12-1 seven-inning contest to Columbus State Sunday afternoon in the series finale.

The Pacers are now 8-22 on the season, including a 4-8 ledger in PBC play.

CSU jumped on the board with two runs in the top of the first, but head coach Michael Holder's team tried to counter in the bottom of the stanza. Brock Myers doubled down the left field line and moved to third when Capers Molinaroli singled up the middle. However, back-to-back strikeouts ended the threat.

USC Aiken left two on base in the second. The Cougars walked Kaden Usry and Cade Bouknight, but a fly ball completed the frame. The team left a runner on base in the third as well.

CSU scored a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth for a 6-0 lead. USC Aiken responded in the bottom of the inning. Brock Myers drew a five-pitch walk and moved to second when Josh Sharp slapped a single into right field. Capers Molinaroli drove in a run with his base hit through the right side, which allowed Myers to score.

The visitors managed to plate six runs in the seventh, securing the run-rule victory.

For the game, Molinaroli tallied three hits and drove in a run. Myers registered a double and scored. Sharp and Usry each had base hits in the loss.
