MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team clinched the series victory over Georgia College & State with a 3-1 win Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 19-8 overall, including 5-4 in PBC play.

Jaclin Poole's team jumped on the board in the top of the first when rookie
Austyn Dixon blasted an offering over the left field fence for a solo home run.
Chloe Phillips walked to lead off the second inning and moved up a bag when
Ella Stone was hit by a pitch. After
Taylor Butts laid down a sacrifice bunt to push both runners into scoring position,
Jena Dewalt laced a triple to right center field, making it 3-0.
With two down in the fourth,
Skylar Morley rocketed a line drive down the left field line. With the left fielder playing in, Morley slid into third base for a triple. However, a groundout ended the threat.
In the fifth,
Mallory Shaver tallied a base knock to right field.
Abigail Wyatt came in as a pinch runner and moved to second on a
Kate Newberry single to center field. However, a foul out ended the stanza.
Cameron Greene came in as a pinch hitter in the sixth and drew a walk. Butts entered the game and hustled to second when Morley dribbled a pitch to the third baseman for a single. A strikeout and fielder's choice ended the inning.
The score remained the same until the Bobcats plated an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth. Leading 3-1,
Lakyn Phillips managed to force a fly ball to right field, ending the inning as Morley hardly had to move for the catch.
The Bobcats threatened in the seventh. The home team had runners on second and third with nobody out.
Lakyn Phillips and the defense was up for the challenge. She struck out the next batter before forcing a pop-up to
Chloe Phillips for the second out. A fly ball to Morley ended the game.
For the contest, Newberry, Morley and Shaver had two hits apiece. Morley and Dewalt had triples while Dixon crushed a round tripper.
In the circle,
Lakyn Phillips went the distance for the complete-game victory. She struck out five batters and scattered six hits in the game.
