AIKEN, SC – The No. 24 University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team lost a 98-93 double overtime decision to the Augusta Jaguars Saturday evening.

The Pacers are now 17-5 on the season and 8-4 in PBC play.

Head coach Mark Vanderslice's squad was led by Tehree Horn who contributed 24 points, six rebounds, a block and a steal. Simeon German picked up 18 points in the loss while Jameel Rideout and Rhyjon Blackwell each netted double figures with 16 and 11 points respectively. Tyler Johnson recorded a double-double, picking up 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds.

German recorded the first points of the game off an offensive rebound. Scoring started pouring in early, and the Pacers found themselves with 12 points in the first four minutes of the game, five coming from Horn.

Vanderslice's squad was up 39-34 at the half. The team shot 50 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes of action.

With roughly four minutes to play, Blackwell increased the lead to six after two converted free throw attempts. The game became tied with 1:26 to play. A Jaguar foul sent Johnson to the line for a one-and-one opportunity. He connected on both attempts, regaining the lead for Vanderslice's squad. The Jaguars were then fouled and tied the game on two free throws.

Johnson made a contested lay-up with 21 seconds remaining, but Augusta tied the game 73-73 with less than two seconds remaining.

In overtime, the visitors jumped out to a two-point lead with 3:16 to play in overtime. Blackwell was fouled on the following possession, and he connected on one of his two attempts. Rideout gathered a steal on the next possession, leading to a Blackwell bucket. German was fouled with 1:23 to play and connected on both free throw attempts.

The Jaguars tied the game on a three-pointer with a minute remaining. Augusta converted on a putback to give the team a two-point lead with less than eight seconds remaining. Rideout was fouled, nailing both free throws and tying the game with a second to play.

The Jaguars took the first lead of the second overtime stanza, but Johnson turned two steals into three points. A three-point play gave USC Aiken a 90-87 edge at the 3:05 mark. German's two charity tosses with 2:23 to play once again gave the Pacers a three-point margin, 92-89. However, the visitors went on an 8-0 run. Rideout was fouled and had three free throw attempts, but the team could only pull within four in the waning seconds.

The Pacers finished the game shooting 33-64 (51.6 percent) from the floor. They shot 22-33 (66.7 percent) from the charity stripe and five-of-20 (25 percent) from three.
