Patterson’s Big Night Sends Pacers Past Bobcats

AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA volleyball team recorded a 3-1 non-conference victory over Georgia College & State University Wednesday evening.

The Pacers are now 9-2 on the season.

Head coach Glenn Cox's team was led by a match-high 15 kills from Emily Lammers. She narrowly missed a double-double with nine digs. Tucker Patterson had an outstanding evening, posting 11 kills while hitting .400. Chloe Duzenack accounted for 10 kills and hit .429 in the win. Anna Sommer contributed nine kills.

Sidney Hogan notched a double-double with 20 assists and 11 digs to go along with a kill and an ace. Tabor Scanlon distributed 26 assists and had five digs in the win.

Defensively, Sidney McKay registered a match-high 21 digs. Kaitlyn Rodriguez posted nine digs to go along with four kills.

Leading 14-12 in the first set, a service error gave the side-out to USCA. A miscue by the Bobcats made it 16-12. Rodriguez served up an ace before Duzenack found the court for a point. Another error by the visitors pushed the score to 19-12. Moments later, Patterson ended the frame with a thunderous kill.

After losing the second set, USCA saw itself in a back-and-forth battle in the third stanza. The team rattled off three straight points for a 14-12 advantage, with Patterson posting the final point in the run. Neither team could gain more than a two-point edge the rest of the way. Cox's team was up 23-21 but the visitors scored back-to-back points. However, an error by GCSU and a kill from Sommer gave the Pacers the 25-23 win.

Up 13-11 in the fourth stanza, consecutive errors by the Bobcats pushed the margin to four, 15-11. With the score at 15-12, Patterson recorded a kill. Sommer added two straight points off passes from Hogan, forcing a time-out. After the break, the Pacers maintained a sizable lead en route to the 25-17 win.

The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Flagler Thursday at 6 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
