DAHLONEGA, Ga. – After picking up victories over nationally-ranked No. 2 North Georgia and third-seeded Georgia Southwestern to open the PBC Tournament, the University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost twice to the Nighthawks Sunday afternoon to conclude its run in the postseason.
The Pacers end the season at 20-33.

Jaclin Poole's team trailed 2-0 in the first game of the day before slicing the deficit to just one run in the fifth stanza.
Taylor Butts was hit by a pitch and
Ella Stone tripled her home, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The home team plated five runs in the bottom of the inning for a 7-1 edge. However, USC Aiken continued to battle.
Emily Ayers rocketed a double to left field in the sixth.
Skylar Morley singled her home with a base knock to center field.
UNG scored three runs in the sixth for the 10-2 final.
For the game, Ayers and Morley had two hits apiece. Both of Ayers' base knocks went for extra bases. Morley drove in a run. Stone registered a triple and one RBI while Ayers and Butts each scored a run.
Payton Baker took the loss while tossing four innings. She struck out six.
Lakyn Phillips had a strikeout in 1.2 innings of relief work.
In game two, Poole's team trailed 2-0 heading into the third inning.
Holly Daum opened the frame up with a double to left field. Two batters later,
Jena Dewalt laid down a bunt single allowing Daum to go to third. Dewalt showcased her speed by swiping second. Ayers promptly blasted a single up the middle to tie the contest at 2-2.
UNG responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning, but USC Aiken continued to battle. In the fifth, Ayers roped a double to left field.
Mallory Shaver pelted a pitch up the middle to make it 6-3.
The home team managed to score three in the fifth and one in the sixth for the 10-3 win.
For the game, Ayers pounded out three hits, including two doubles. She drove in two and scored once. Shaver tallied two hits and one RBI. Daum and Dewalt each had a hit and scored a run. Daum accounted for a double while
Lauren Wexler recorded a base hit. In the circle, Baker went the distance.
The two wins in the PBC Tournament marked the second consecutive time the USC Aiken softball program has done so as the No. 7 seed.
