Pacers Lose Series Finale To Bobcats

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team dropped the series finale to Georgia College and State 10-3. The Pacers are now 28-18 on the season and 19-8 in the PBC. Head coach Michael Holder's team plated the first run of the game in the third inning when Jackson Hannon scored Luke Parker after the pair each hit singles. GCSU put six runs on the board in their home half of the third giving them the 6-1 advantage. USC Aiken put two in scoring position in the sixth with two away when Jose Hernandez singled up the middle and then advanced to third on a double by Kaden Usry. A strikeout ended the inning. The Bobcats added four insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth stretching their lead to 10-1. In the eighth, Hernandez was walked with two outs. Usry led the back-to-back-to-back singles that pushed Hernandez to third and was driven home by Nick Varda's single making the score 10-2. Parker singled through the right side and loaded the bases with Usry on third and Varda on second. Usry crossed home plate after Kaden Blankenship was hit by a pitch. A USC Aiken fly out kept the Pacers from adding any additional runs and accounted for the final score. For the game, Usry went three-for-four with a double and a run scored. Parker had three hits with a run. Hannon, Hernandez, and Varda all had singles. Blankenship, Hannon and Varda each collected an RBI. Hannon had the only stolen base of the game. On the mound, Austin Sandifer got the start and pitched 2.2 inning giving up five runs on four hits and fanning one. In relief, Parker pitched a third of a frame giving up a run and a hit. AJ Deibel hurled two scoreless innings giving up no hits and striking out three. Jacob Bodkin pitched two-thirds of an inning allowing four runs (none earned) on three hits.
