BEAUFORT, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team defeated USC Beaufort 6-5 Sunday afternoon in the series finale.
The Pacers are now 10-17 overall and 4-5 in PBC play.

Jaclin Poole's team jumped on top with a run in the first.
Jessica Stanley led off the game with a single up the middle and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Lauren Wexler. Two batters later,
Mallory Shaver ripped a double to left field, scoring Stanley.
Tied at 1-1 in the top of the third, USC Aiken regained the advantage. Stanley was once again the catalyst, taking a walk to lead off the frame. After moving to second on a wild pitch, she moved to third when
Emily Ayers reached on a fielder's choice. Ayers stole second and both runners scored when Shaver reached on a fielder's choice. Two batters later,
Skylar Morley reached on an error and Shaver crossed home plate for a three-run margin.
USC Beaufort tied it in the bottom of the third but Poole's team was quick to respond with a run in the fourth.
Taylor Butts drew a lead-off walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Stanley doubled her home for a 5-4 edge.
After the Sand Sharks tied it in the fifth, the Pacers scored the game-winning run in the sixth. Morley led off the inning with an infield single and hustled to second on
Holly Daum's sacrifice bunt. After Morley stole third,
Grace Ann Thompkins drew a walk. Stanley roped a base hit to left field for a one-run margin.
Lakyn Phillips got the starting nod and went three innings. She gave up four runs, but only one was earned while striking out one.
Payton Baker tossed the final four innings to get the win. She struck out four while giving up one run on five hits without allowing a walk.
For the game, Stanley led the charge with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Shaver had two RBI and scored a run while Morley notched a hit and crossed home once. Ayers and Butts also scored once.
