AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team lost a 92-52 decision at Augusta Wednesday evening.
The Pacers are now 15-10 overall, including 9-6 in league play. The Jaguars stand at 16-9 overall and 9-6 against PBC teams.
Head coach
Mark Miller's team was led by
Emily Trushel's team-high 18 pints on seven-of-nine shooting from the floor. She added five rebounds and three assists.
Emily Trushel notched a block and a steal. she led or tied for team-high honors in each of the categories.
Breanna Gustave and
Jentri Worley tallied eight points apiece.
Hailey Unger netted six points while
Yasmine Fairchild came off the bench to net five points in six minutes of work.
For the game, USC Aiken tallied 24 points in the paint and converted 13 turnovers into 13 points. The squad collected seven offensive rebounds, leading to six second-chance points.
Miller's team accounted for 24 points in the paint. The squad was solid from the charity stripe, hitting 15-of-18 (83.3 percent) for the game. The team also dished out 11 assists on 18 field goals.
Trailing 14-6, Worley got past the defense for a lay-up. With 4:21 on the clock, Unger converted a pass from
Delaney Trushel into a bucket, making it 14-10. A
Kelsie Woodard free throw cut the deficit to three, 14-11 but the Jaguars held a 23-13 edge after the first quarter.
Miller's team netted the first four points of the second frame to make it a 23-17 contest. Down by 10, Woodard recorded a steal. Gustave found
Delaney Trushel for a lay-up. Then,
Emily Trushel converted a turnover into a bucket at the 8:47 mark. However, that was as close as the visitors would get the rest of the way.
