DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team used a last-second shot from
Jameel Rideout to knock off No. 18 North Georgia 79-78 in overtime Saturday afternoon.
Rideout took the ball with eight seconds left. He went the length of the court, crossed up his defender and moved toward the baseline before drilling a 15-foot jumper with six-tenths of a second remaining for the game-winning shot.
The Pacers are now 15-5 on the year, including 8-2 in league play. The Nighthawks

Karon Boyd's 19 points and six rebounds.
Tehree Horn tallied 18 points and nine boards while
Jalen McCoy totaled 18 points and six rebounds in the win.
Tyler Johnson and Rideout had six points apiece.
In the first half, a pair of free throws by
Daniel Parrish gave the visitors a 7-4 lead. Trailing 10-9, McCoy sliced through the defense for a pair of lay-ups, giving the Pacers a 13-10 advantage. Horn's bucket gave USC Aiken a 15-12 margin.
Down by eight, 23-15, Horn hit two charity tosses. With 3:55 to play, Boyd took a pass from
Demitrios Dixon and nailed a jumper. Trailing 29-19, McCoy converted an old-fashioned three-point play. A lay-up from him pulled the team within five, 29-24. With one second to play in the half, McCoy cut the deficit to four on a lay-up, 31-27.
Only 43 seconds into the second half, Johnson's bucket tied the game at 31-31. Tied at 35-35, Horn hit all three charity tosses for a 38-35 lead.
Trailing 57-56 Horn found Rideout for a three-ball. With7:06 to play, Boyd made a lay-up. A free throw with 6:08 to go made it 62-57. Horn's jumper pushed the score to 64-57 at the 5:33 mark. Four straight points in the final 1:41 by the Nighthawks tied the game at 66-66, forcing overtime.
Down 72-68, Boyd took a pass from Horn for a bucket. Trailing 74-70, McCoy netted four straight points to tie the game with 1:06 to go. After a basket by UNG, Boyd buried a three-ball with 22 seconds to play for a 77-76 lead.
Trailing 78-77, Rideout took the game into his own hands and drilled the game-winning shot. A last-second heave by the home team was short, sealing the game for the visitors.
For the game, USC Aiken hit 30-of-82 from the floor (36.6 percent). The team buried seven shots from downtown. The team had 15 offensive rebounds resulting in 14 second-chance points. USC Aiken also had 13 points off 16 turnovers in the win.
