Six Score In Double Figures In Win Over Bobcats

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team posted an 80-63 victory over Georgia College & State Wednesday evening.

The Pacers are now 10-5 on the season, including 4-1 in league play.

Head coach Mark Miller's team was led by Emily Trushel's game-high 15 points. She added six assists and five rebounds. Annalise Malone totaled a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Delaney Trushel posted 13 points and seven assists. Hailey Unger accounted for 11 points and a career-high four blocks. Breanna Gustave and Marta Rivera added 10 points apiece.

The Pacers jumped out to a 16-7 lead when Breanna Gustave drained a three-ball off a pass from Hailey Unger. Tied at 19-19, Marta Rivera connected on an old-fashioned three-point play for a 22-19 edge going into the second quarter.

Leading 28-22, Gustave canned a jumper. On the ensuing possession, Emily Trushel found her sister for a lay-up. Moments later, Delaney Trushel snagged a rebound and put it up and in for a 12-point advantage. Although the Bobcats cut it to two, Miller's team maintained a 41-36 lead at halftime.

USC Aiken increased the margin to 11 at 55-44 when Malone drained a jumper with 4:45 to play in the third quarter. Up 57-48, Gustave hit a jumper. Rivera netted four straight points for a 63-48 lead and the Pacers took a 66-53 lead heading into the fourth stanza.

Miller's team pushed the score to 74-53 with 5:46 to go when Worley drilled a three-ball off a pass from Delaney Trushel. Leading by nine, Emily Trushel buried another shot from distance en route to the 80-61 victory.

For the game, USC Aiken hit 30-of-73 from the floor, including 11-of-19 from distance (57.9 percent). The squad held a 46-41 edge on the glass, including a 15-11 advantage on the offensive end. Miller's team dished out 16 assists and scored 20 points off Bobcat turnovers.
