Megan Gettys Scores Twice Against Young Harris

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 4-2 decision to Young Harris Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 2-2-3 on the season, including 0-2-2 in PBC play.

In the sixth minute of action, Erika Bateman played a long ball down the right side of the box. Megan Gettys corralled it and took one dribble to the left before rocketing a shot in the upper left section of the goal for a quick 1-0 score.

The Mountain Lions managed to knot the score at the 13:30 mark.

Sonya Villarreal blasted a shot in the 15th minute but the keeper was up for the task. Jackie Montes booted a shot in the 23rd minute that Mckenna Peaster managed to snag. Gettys tallied another attempt in the waning moments but the score remained at 1-1 entering halftime.

With just under 28 minutes to go, USC Aiken was fouled right outside the box. Gettys took the kick and bent the shot around the wall, but the keeper was able punch it away, keeping it at 1-1.

Trailing 3-1 Karis Coleman gained possession of the ball near midfield and flicked it through the defense. Gettys raced after the pass and booted the ball home, making it 3-2 at the 78:32 mark.

YHC managed to score a late goal in the final minute for the 4-2 score.
