Pacers Drop Road Contest At No. 15 Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost an 11-0 decision at No. 15 Lenoir-Rhyne Tuesday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 8-10 on the season while the Bears improve to 21-1.

Interim head coach Michael Holder's team saw five student-athletes register base hits in the contest.

Trailing 2-0 in the second inning, Josh Sharp belted a one-out single to right field on a 2-1 count. However, he was erased trying to steal, ending the inning.

In the fourth, leadoff hitter Sean McQuillan laid down a bunt for a single on an 0-1 count. Two batters later, Jeff Cyr ripped a double to the gap in left center, putting runners in scoring position. Back-to-back outs ended the threat.

With two down in the sixth, Jackson Hannon saw the first pitch and promptly tallied a base hit through the right side of the infield.

In the ninth, Joseph Mozingo worked the count full before getting ahold of the pay-off pitch for a single. He then moved to second on a wild pitch.

Jacob Fletcher got the start on the mound. He recorded a strikeout. Luke Parker had a pair of strikeouts over 2.2 frames. Austin Sandifer and Austin Hohm combined to pitch the next 2.1 frames. Dylan Wilhelm struck out a batter over two-thirds of an inning. AJ Deibel worked a scoreless eighth inning, striking out the side.

The Pacers return to action Friday when they host Columbus State at 6 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
