AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team picked up a sweep over Coker Tuesday afternoon by scores of 2-1 and 5-2.
The Pacers are now 11-7 on the season.

Jaclin Poole's team got on the board in the third inning.
Taylor Butts singled to lead off the frame and moved to third on a
Mallory Shaver base knock to right field.
Emily Ayers plated Butts with a double to the gap in right center field. After
Brooke Moore was hit by a pitch,
Skylar Morley singled in what turned out to be the game-winning run as Shaver crossed home plate.
USC Aiken held a 2-0 advantage through six innings thanks to the terrific effort from
Payton Baker. The Cobras registered a run in the seventh, but Baker forced the next three batters out in order, securing the 2-1 win.
For the game, Baker threw 95 pitches en route to the six, strikeout, five-hit effort. She did not walk a batter in the victory.
At the plate, Shaver recorded a pair of hits while
Brianna Dow, Ayers, Morley, Shirocria Bosket and Butts had a hit apiece. Ayers and Morley each drove in a run while Shaver and Butts crossed home.
Ashlyn White, Morley and Bosket all stole a base.
In game two, Shaver had a bloop single with two down. Ayers drove her in with a rocket to left field for a double and a 1-0 advantage. Moments later, Ayers came home after Moore recorded a hit and an errant throw scooted past the first baseman for a 2-0 margin.
USC Aiken extended the lead to 4-1 when Dow blasted a two-run homer to left center in the second inning. Butts scored on the play after walking previously in the frame.
Moore stepped into the box with two down in the fifth and crushed a 1-0 pitch over the center field fence for a 5-1 score. Moore saved a base hit in the top of the sixth when she dove to her left, snagging a line drive from the lead-off batter. With one in and two out, Moore once again dove to her left and snagged the ball out of the air, keeping a run off the board.
For the game, Moore and Shaver had two hits apiece. Dow drove in two while Ayers and Moore each drove in one. Moore,
Lauren Wexler and White all had a steal.
In the circle,
Lakyn Phillips went the distance for the win. She struck out 11 in the win.
