Three Net Double Figures In 25-Point Win Over Coker

AIKEN, S.C. – Three University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball student-athletes registered double digits in the 72-47 victory over Coker Wednesday evening.

The Pacers are now 5-2 on the season while the Cobras fall to 5-2.

Tehree Horn and Daniel Parrish shared game-high honors with 15 points apiece. Horn also snagged eight rebounds to go along with four assists and two steals. Tyler Johnson netted 14 points while grabbing six boards.

Demitrios Dixon netted eight points in 14 minutes of work and garnered three steals. Jalen McCoy chipped in seven points and six boards. Karon Boyd pulled down a game-best nine rebounds.

Head coach Mark Vanderslice's team went on a 9-0 spurt in the early going for a 15-7 lead. Horn started it with a jumper. Jameel Rideout converted a jumper in the lane off a pass form Horn. A three-ball from Johnson and a pair of free throws from Horn made it 15-7.

Trailing 19-18, Horn found Johnson for a three-point shot. Parrish connected with Dixon for a three-ball before Devin Evans made a lay-up, giving the home team a 26-21 lead. Parrish rattled off four straight points for a nine-point margin. Up 32-23, Dixon hit two free throws and Horn buried a jumper for a 36-23 lead at the break.

Just 5:55 into the second half, Parrish pushed the advantage to 21 after burying a pair of free throws. A 19-point edge at 51-32 with 11:13 to play was as close as USC Aiken would allow the Cobras to get the rest of the way.

Leading 57-34, Parrish once again scored four straight markers. A bucket by Johnson extended the margin to 28, 64-36. A jumper by McCoy with 2:00 to play gave the home team its biggest advantage at 70-41.

For the game, USC Aiken hit 25-of-57 from the floor (43.9 percent). The team drained 18-of-24 from the charity stripe (75.0 percent). The squad converted Coker's miscues into 15 points.
