RALEIGH, N.C. – Three University of South Carolina Aiken student-athletes registered double figures in the hard-fought 67-64 loss at Shaw Wednesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 2-3 on the season while the Bears move to 2-3.
Head coach
Mark Miller's team was paced by
Annalise Malone and
Jentri Worley as each shared team-high honors with 16 points apiece. Malone narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds.
Emily Trushel added 10 points and four steals in the contest.
Delaney Trushel accounted for nine points, six rebounds and three assists while
Marta Rivera chipped in five markers and four boards.
Malone's lay-up made it 5-2. Moments later,
Delaney Trushel drained a three-point bucket to go up 8-5. Trailing 19-11, Worley netted an inside shot. Down by eight, 21-13,

Emily Trushel for a three-ball. A tip-in from Malone just before the buzzer pulled the visitors within three at 21-18.
Down by three, Malone made a lay-up with 8:48 to play before halftime.
Hailey Unger found Rivera for a shot from downtown for a 25-23 lead. After Shaw extended the lead to 11,

Miller's team cut into the deficit early in the third period. USC Aiken trailed 46-35 before Malone found Worley for a three-point bucket. Thirty seconds later, Worley's lay-up made the score 46-40. Another basket from Worley pulled the Pacers within four, 46-42. The Bears managed to lead 55-50 entering the fourth quarter.
Continuing to whittle into the margin in the fourth frame, back-to-back lay-ups from Malone gave USC Aiken a 64-62 lead with 2:16 to go but the home team scored the final five points in the game.
For the game, USC Aiken hit 24-of-58 from the floor (41.4 percent), including nine-of-27 from downtown (33.3 percent). The squad also hit seven-of-10 from the charity stripe (70 percent). Miller's team distributed 13 assists in the game and registered a pair of blocks. The visitors held a 26-24 edge in the paint.
