USC Aiken Falls To No. 6 North Georgia

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team lost a 74-52 contest to No. 6 North Georgia Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers are now 7-10 overall and 3-6 in league play. The Nighthawks improve to 16-1 overall and 9-0 against PBC teams.

Head coach Mark Miller's team was led by Chidinma Okafor's team-best 13 points and six boards. Allycia Harris narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. She added four steals. Yasmine Fairchild tallied eight points while Jentri Worley accounted for seven. Madison Williams notched six points and three steals.  

Trailing 7-0, Worley got things going with a jumper. Okafor's bucket pulled the team within three at 7-4 with 3:57 to play in the first quarter. UNG managed to extend the lead to 16-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Down 24-15, Harris hit a charity toss. A layup by the visitors pushed the margin to 10 but Harris hit a jumper to make it an eight-point contest at 26-18. The teams traded baskets and Madison Williams' bucket made it an eight-point contest with 5:44 to play, but that was as close as the team would get in the half. The Nighthawks led 44-29 at the break. Miller's team had the lone second-chance points in the second frame by a 3-0 count.

The Nighthawks managed to maintain a double-digit advantage throughout the second half. Despite a solid effort from the squad, the Pacers were unable to close the gap against the visitors.

For the game, USC Aiken hit 19-of-59 from the floor (32.2 percent). The squad hit 11-of-15 from the charity stripe (73.3 percent). The team converted 19 turnovers into 11 points.
