USC Aiken Drops Season Finale At Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 2-0 decision at Lander Thursday evening.

The Pacers conclude the season with a 1-5-1 record.

The home squad jumped on top with a goal at the 6:31 mark, which was the team's fourth shot of the match.

Baylea Payne registered the first shot for USC Aiken, which occurred in the 22nd minute. However, it missed left of the post. Gressa Olson blasted a shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but it was saved by the keeper. The Pacers had a corner kick seconds later, but the squad was unable to get another shot off the set piece.

Tashiana Kwatowski rocketed a shot toward the goal at the 38:59 mark, but it narrowly missed high. Marissa Lee followed it with a shot on target in the 42nd minute, but it was saved.

Willa Olson took a corner kick and the Pacers continued to pressure the Bearcats, but Riley Barrett's attempt was turned away in the 43rd minute.

Summer Riccardi nearly knotted the match in the 49th minute, but it missed wide.

Lander tallied six straight shots before Raegan Buchanan's shot on goal was saved at the 64:07 mark.

The Bearcats pushed the score to 2-0 in the 67th minute, but USC Aiken would not give up. Charlotte Mannella put a shot on goal less than a minute later.

Jourdan Gruber had a shot on target while Barrett had two shots on goal in the closing minutes, but all were turned away by the keeper.

Georgia Martell played all 90 minutes between the pipes. She stopped seven shots in the contest.

The Pacers tallied 11 shots in the match, including eight on goal.
