Pacers Fall To No. 7 Bearcats

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team lost a 6-1 decision at No. 7 Lander Tuesday.

The Pacers are now 0-4 on the season while the Bearcats improve to 7-0.

Yannis Wome accounted for the team's lone goal of the contest while Jervel Tobierre also rattled off a shot on goal for head coach Ike Ofoje's team.

Brendan Gribek played all 90 minutes between the pipes. He accounted for seven saves.

The nationally-ranked Bearcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead just over the midway point of the first half. However, USC Aiken continued to push forward.

In the 39th minute, Wome found the back of the net after a foul on Lander that resulted in a penalty kick.

The Pacers nearly cut the deficit to 4-2 at the 73:33 mark when Tobierre rocketed a shot that was stopped by the keeper. Twenty seconds later, Daniel Ailemen recorded a corner kick, but USC Aiken was unable to record a shot off the set piece.

The Pacers return to action Monday when they host Francis Marion at 7:30 p.m.
