DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a pair of games to North Georgia Friday by scores of 11-1 and 9-0.
The Pacers are now 0-2 on the season.
In game one, the home squad jumped out to a 6-0 lead through five innings. With one out in the sixth,
David Jacobs came in as a pinch hitter and launched a solo blast over the center field wall, making it 6-1.
The Nighthawks responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh for an 11-1 final.
For the game,
Jackson Hannon, Jacobs and
Sean McQuillan each had base hits.
Leo Horacio,
Trey Polewski and
Nick Tripp all garnered walks.
Lindsey Robinson Jr., took the loss. He worked 3.1 frames and struck out four.
In game two, McQuillan led off the game with a single, but he was erased on a fielder's choice. McQuillan picked up his team's next hit, coming with a base knock up the middle in the third.
Tyler Littlefield singled in the fourth stanza and
Scott Huntley garnered a base hit in the fifth.
The Nighthawks jumped on top with two runs in the first and one in the third before extending the margin with a six-run sixth inning.
Hunter Steger took the loss. He struck out three while
Henry Cartrett accounted for two strikeouts.
Daniel Wiggins notched one strikeout while
Evan Condon had three in the loss.
