Pacers Cruise Past Yellow Jackets

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team registered a 116-49 win over Allen Saturday afternoon for the home opener.

The Pacers are now 2-1 on the season.

USC Aiken started the game on a 12-0 run and never looked back as head coach Mark Vanderslice's team canned 49-of-79 from the floor (62.0 percent) for the game.

Tehree Horn led everyone with a game-high effort of 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting. He also shared game-best honors with Jalen McCoy as each had three steals apiece.

David Strother drained seven-of-10 from the floor for 18 points. He also dished out six assists. Preston Parks narrowly missed a double-double with 13 points and a game-high nine assists. Tyler Johnson came off the bench to tally 11 points and five assists.

Mason McMurray also narrowly missed on a double-double, tallying nine points and nine rebounds.  Anthony Hardy Jr. accounted for nine points while Kameron Little had eight. LaTreavin Black and Samba Ndiaye had six points each. Demitrios Dixon and Jalen McCoy had four and two points, respectively.

On the 49 made field goals, Vanderslice's team registered 29 assists. The 49 field goals and 116 points are each tied for second in those categories. The 29 assists are the third most in school history.

USC Aiken also drilled 11-of-28 three-point shots (39.3 percent). The Pacers grabbed 45 rebounds compared to 24 for the visitors. Vanderslice's team had 24 second-chance points. 

USC Aiken scored an absurd 72 points in the paint, including the large majority of the 36 fast break points. The home team turned 23 turnovers into 36 points.

All 12 student-athletes etched their names in the scoring column in the win.
