Friday Night Lights
Senior
Lindsey Robinson Jr., has had a sensational start to his season. After coming off a brilliant opening-day performance, Robinson Jr., was even better in the series opener against Shepherd. Through six innings against the Rams, Robinson Jr., did not give up a hit. He had eight strikeouts and only walked two as the team combined for a one-hit shutout.
Luke Likes The Long Ball
Luke Leisenring has had a solid 2020 campaign through the first six games of the season. He is batting .412, totaling seven hits in 17 at bats. Five of his hits have gone for extra bases, including four via the long ball. Leisenring is currently slugging 1.235 and holds a 1.850 OPS.
Small Ball
USC Aiken has played small ball a lot this season, which has turned out very well thus far. The squad has 75 hits on the year and 17 went for extra bases. In the first game against Shepherd, the Pacers had one extra base hit (double by
Jose Hernandez). The team had two in the second game against the Rams before notching four extra-base hits in the series finale.
Making Memories
Last weekend against Shepherd,
Jose Hernandez picked up his first career hit as a Pacer while
Joel Haney worked a scoreless inning on the mound in his collegiate debut. Hernandez smacked a double off the wall and scored moments later while Haney had a pair of strikeouts in the shutout victory.
Just Like 2017
USC Aiken started the 2020 campaign at a strong 6-0 mark. The Pacers last started 6-0 in 2017 – the last time the squad made the NCAA Tournament. The squad is averaging 11.83 runs per game while limiting opponents to four runs a contest.
Inside The Numbers
This week, USC Aiken opens PBC play at home against North Georgia. The Pacers host the Nighthawks on Friday, Feb. 14, Saturday, Feb. 15 and Sunday, Feb. 16. Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 141-90 in Friday games (61.0 percent), 329-216 (60.4 percent) and 196-142 (58.0 percent) in Sunday affairs. During the same time, the team is 7-9 on Feb. 14, 5-5 on Feb. 15 and 10-7 on Feb. 16.
Against The Opponent
