CAMDEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team opened the season with a victory at the Camden Collegiate, which wrapped up play Tuesday afternoon.
Björn Rosengren won the tournament by two strokes and
Leo Johansson picked up the silver medal. Rosengren and Johansson each shot final-round scores of 72.
Rosengren won the event by shooting three-under par, 207. It marked his first collegiate victory. Johansson shot one-under par, 209, to take second place. During the second round of play, Rosengren tied the PBC all-time record for lowest round while establishing a school record with his 63.
The two Pacers were the lone student-athletes under par for the tournament.
Nicholas Poole finished 27
th and
George Eubank placed 29
th. Poole shot 12-over par, 222 while Eubank was one stroke behind him at 13-over par, 223.
Thomas Trowbridge placed 36
th in the event.
Under the guidance of head coach
Michael Carlisle, USC Aiken has now won at least one tournament in all but one season since the 1992-93 campaign.
The Pacers also picked up a season-opening victory in 1997-98, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2008-09, 2015-16 dating back to the 1997-98 season.
Lee finished second while Young Harris rounded out the top three.
