HICKORY, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost an 8-0 decision at Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday.
The Pacers are now 0-2 on the season while the Bears improve to 2-0.
Trailing 1-0 early in the first half, head coach
Hilary George's team attempted to knot the score, but
Paige D'Agostin's shot in the 16
th minute was blocked. Moments later, the Bears extended the lead to 2-0.
USC Aiken trailed 4-0 at the half and the Bears pushed the margin to 5-0 33 seconds into the second period.
Willa Olson blasted a shot that was just wide of the frame at the 51:13 mark. Two minutes later,
Willa Olson took a corner kick, but the Pacers were unable to get a shot off the set piece. D'Agostin registered another shot in the 84
th minute for the visitors.
For the match,
Makenzie Maxwell had six saves between the pipes.
Madi Banks and
Reese McCormick had four saves apiece in goal.
